Organic alternatives to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Natural alternatives to products that have traditionally included chemical additives are popping up more and more every year. Many people are starting to steer toward organic alternatives and veer away from overly processed products. This week we wanted to explore some herbal alternatives to blocking the sun and preventing damage to the skin.
Rosemary
It turns out that very much like vitamin C, rosemary also helps to protect the skin from free radicals. A free radical is essentially an unstable molecule. If enough of these free radical molecules build up within the cells of the skin it could cause other molecular damage and might also increase the chance of skin cancer. Rosemary also works as a great inflammation reducer.
Not Just for Cooking
Some studies have shown in the past that combining rosemary extracts with a bit of lemon and ingesting them decreased UV damage. Other studies proved that applying sesame oil to the skin blocked about 30% of harmful UV rays.
Keep it Cool
If you've had the misfortune of sunburn grace your skin, you know how uncomfortable, and all-out painful it can be. Fortunately, we have nature's cooling gel to quell burns caused by the sun. The insides of the aloe leaf are great for taking the sting out of a sunburn as well as calming inflamed skin.
