Lavender Iced Tea 3 Ways

Enjoy a creamy, calming, or energized lavender iced tea to get you through the summer!

The calming attributes of lavender are what the herb is best known for. Lavender can naturally calm down the nervous system by lowering your blood pressure. It's also a great anxiety deterrent, and may even help to stave off depression.

We here at Catalyst Tea Company love lavender. We've posted multiple ways to include lavender in all aspects of beauty, specialty coffees, mental health, and tea! This week we're doing cool, refreshing drinks with the ultimate calming herb in three ways.

Lavender Iced Tea

Our favorite quick and easy way to prepare Lavender iced tea is by using a French press. You can either leave the press in the refrigerator overnight or use chilled water to fill the French press for faster results.

Lavender Milk Boba

This recipe combines two of our favorites, lavender and boba. Boba tea, or bubble tea, has become a staple for the casual summer tea drinker. This Taiwanese take on traditional Chinese tea has become so popular over the past decade, that it's even made its way across the pond. Originating in the early 80s at a shop called Chun Shui Tang in Taiwan, Liu Han-Chieh started experimenting with serving tea cold. Bubble tea, or Boba tea refers to the tapioca pearls that rest at the bottom of the cold-served drink.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Dried Lavender

  • 2 cups of Milk (of your choice)

  • 2 cups of Water

  • 1 tbsp of Honey

  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

  •  Tapioca pearls

Directions:

  1. Bring water to a boil and add in your dried lavender.

  2. Remove from heat and cover your pot. Let your brew steep for 10 minutes. Then carefully strain your mixture into a pitcher.

  3. In another pot, heat the milk for only as long as it begins to steam. Then add milk to the pitcher as well.

  4. Stir in honey and vanilla extract.

  5. If your pitcher is glass, wait till your brew has cooled to at least room temperature before setting it in the refrigerator to continue cooling.

  6. Once your tea has chilled you're ready to add tapioca pearls to glasses and pour your tea over them. Add ice for an extra chilly drink.

Lavender Butterfly Pea Tea

Adding Lavender to a cold brewed glass of our very own Jasmin Butterfly Pea tea is the perfect way to enjoy a hot summer afternoon. This unique green tea blend delivers fresh and flowery notes of jasmine and has a vibrant blue color. Add a few drops of lemon for an exciting metamorphosis!

Tea Time

This week we're putting a spotlight on our carefully crafted Night Time Tea Kit. The kit is a set of selected herbs to enjoy specifically in the evening. It comes with peppermint, lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, and orange peel, and allows you to make tea truly your own!
